You won’t burn fat effectively on less than 7 hours of sleep.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “But Megan! I seriously try. I just don’t sleep well. It’s been a struggle forever. I’m just not a good sleeper.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I get that, but there are a few things I see over and over in those who suck at sleep so let’s see if I can’t help.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. You like a little wine before bed. If your blood sugar drops too low because of a spike and crash from that glass of vino before bed, your body releases stress hormones to bring your blood glucose back up. This is why you don’t sleep well when you drink.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. You’re not eating enough carbs. Unless you’re in an actual state of ketosis, eating too few carbs can disturb your sleep. Your blood sugar may drop too low and your body will wake you up to “save” you. My advice? Add a high fiber starch to your dinner.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Blue light is majoring disrupting your sleep patterns. I know I know! Turning your phone and tv off at night seems impossible. At least get yourself some HIGH QUALITY blue light blockers. Blue light inhibits the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that sends the signal to your body that it’s time to go to sleep, so this is a must!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. You’re deficient in magnesium. And this is SUPER common! Hey everybody I have some exciting news. For anyone who has been following me for a long time & knows my journey I just wanted to take the time to say thank you. Thank you for caring & motivating me these past 2 years to become a better version of myself everyday. Without all of you I really don’t know where I would be within my fitness journey nor if I would of even accomplished what I have so far without the support. I have now been working out for roughly 2 years after I went through a tough breakup which was the reason I started working out in the first place. But my “revenge body” instantly turned into a deep passionate love for the process of changing my body & I quickly became obsessed with working out. I haven’t been this passionate about something in life in a long time & I have gained so much knowledge within this time & l have learned stuff from fitness that I incorporate into my every day life. This past month of my life has been the happiest & most amazing I have felt in sooo long. I’m trying things that scare me & conquering them one by one & taking it day by day. With confidence I can say I am very content & happy with everything going in my life right now. This past weekend I went to Lake Tahoe to watch some friends compete at a bodybuilding show. While I was watching & supporting my friends, I realized this looks super fun. Later that night I watched Forrest walk onto the stage & take the gold home. Seeing him being honored with a medal for winning took me back to my old karate days when I was younger & would travel to tournaments. I sadly moved on from karate but realized, that with the passion & discipline I have now & everything I’ve learned. I wanna put it to the test. You all have seen me go from fat to fit. Well now your going to see me on a stage competing in the Men’s Physique division in Reno, October 5th. Anyone that has supported me along my journey, you are a big reason I’m going to take my fitness to the next level & compete no matter how frightened I am of being in front of crowds lol :) hope you guys enjoy these pics from the weekend. VERY successful active day. Re-tried the very first workout we did when we joined the gym and I enjoyed it SOOOO much more. I believe I doubled the weight from all of the previously recorded sets, actually did the crunches at the end 😅 and then went on to do a walk/jog switching between the two every other block. Well, well, well, long time no see. Hi friends, sorry for the absence. I so appreciate every single one of you for reaching out, your kind words are so lovely💕 As you folks can see, I fractured my fibula 🙄 OYE. It’s been a rough go these last few months! I know some of you have felt a little bit in the dark, and I apologize for that. I have had a tough time talking about it, but here’s the spark notes: In April, I was in a car accident. I had just purchased the car, and unfortunately it was a write off. I got some scans done on my head, and they found a malformation on my brain. Scary stuff. I have been essentially waiting for my healthcare team to decide if they wanted to treat it through surgery (ya fucking BRAIN surgery), and I had recently gotten the news that my symptoms were more likely due to the concussion from the car accident. Aka surgery was put on the back burner. I was elated. Yes, I was still in treatment but a lot of question marks had been answered. And I had a relatively concrete treatment timeline. I was feeling really confident and excited to move on from an extremely stressful time in my life, I finally felt SETTLED. And then... I experienced a syncopal event, likely related to concussive symptoms, which caused me to fracture my fibula. UHG. This scooter is my only mode of transportation at the moment. I am going to be completely transparent; I am struggling. I’m struggling with the fact that I can’t work, I’m struggling because I can’t workout, I’m struggling because I’m entirely dependent on others and it’s demoralizing. I have been feeling really low, but I’m ready to make the active decision to regain a positive mental state. I’m making the choice, and I’m so incredibly lucky to have wonderful, supportive people in my life that love me and will even walk around with me and my scooter in public😂. I’m ready to feel like myself again, and that starts with participating in a healthy and active lifestyle, in any capacity I can. So, my posts are going to be a *little* different than my usual heavy squats and box jumps😂 Hope you guys will come along with me!

So I had a moment today. Not many people will understand this, but I needed to share. So at the gym this morning I was doing arms, which anyone who knows me, knows I don’t look up. For so long I have hated what I have seen in the mirror. But today was different, today I looked up. I looked and I had to double take myself. I am no longer that out of shape women, I looked like the other people in the gym. I looked fit, I wasn’t ashamed, and I wasn’t embarrassed. Totally teared up on myself and barely was able to hold my tears of joy back. I have worked so hard. No weight loss surgery, just hard work. Today was worth it, these last few months have been worth it, this last year has been worth it. From morbidly obese, to seeing an outline of abs and muscle definition throughout my body. Yes I have stretch marks, I have four kids. Yes I have loose skin, I lost over 100lbs. But I don’t care. I wear a two piece bathing suit, and am completely comfortable with it. This is something I never thought would happen. Not just from the weight, but mentally I never thought I would be there. I love my new body, even though it’s still a work in progress. In life you have to love yourself, because nothing feels as great as self love ❤️ although I haven’t been posting as much, I have still been working out as much as possible and staying active. Yes this is me laying in bed with no clothes, feeling like death and unable to even enjoy my evening with my husband because of the stupid choices I have been making. No one said WLS would be easy and for those of you who think it is, you're not only fooling others but you're fooling yourself. This month I've gone back to my old habits where I will snack on the bad stuff at night. I'm not sharing this for attention, I'm sharing this to show what is real during this journey. EVERYONE has a bumpy road and this is mine. But I didn't go through a year of classes and appointments, driving 4 hours away for surgery and losing 70lbs for nothing. I'm going to get myself back on track if that means I have to stay away from visitors or even making a follow up appointment with my dietian and social worker to direct me in the right direction. I gave a sneak peak to my primal7movement last week, but I didn’t get a chance to share why I was so excited to try this out. I had never heard of this company, but as soon as I looked up their page, I was interested! They aim to help EVERYONE find a way to be active. As someone who has struggled with mobility, I love their mission. This amazing piece of equipment not only assists in body weight exercises but can also be used for stretching/yoga. I’ve included a few videos of me using it- but there’s SO much more (they have full workouts on their YouTube channel). I’m determined to master pull ups and pushups with the help of this bad boy 😂💪🏽 Don’t let the band fool you- you can make your exercises more difficult as your mobility and strength increase! Graduated from 25s to 45s plus the bar. That shit felt good. No it felt great! This was my second workout tonight and I did not feel like leaving the house to come, but now I’m so pleased I did. I have several people talk about needing inspiration to workout or to pursue whatever goals they have. gratitude > attitude. Or something like that. Didn’t want to fucking work out, as I ranted about on my story, pushed through, did it, and now I’m showering my body in gratitude because a) these arms might still be flabby, but they’re packing strength that’s growing more ever day. b) my thick thighs save lives, AND they also carry me through my life/power through stuff I didn’t think I could do. c) my torso doesn’t look perfect but it’s housing vital organs that are full of goddamn LIFE! All of which are functioning and healthy and keeping me going every day. 2.5 mile run and my smile says it all? LOL. Half marathon training is a real struggle, trying to start over after injuries. Making sure to stretch and strength train. Get enough sleep. Who relies on ‘crash diets’ to get results, then repeats the diet every 6 months? Guess what? It’s on you. When you wear accountability, you get your power back. If you want change, make one. “I’ll start next time, it’s too late for me to start”⁣ ⁣ If this thought has run through your head at all, I need to be real with you for a second. How many “next times” do we give ourselves, especially when it comes to our health and fitness journeys? When I was 45+ lbs heavier, everything I saw was a “next time”. ⁣ ⁣ Oh, I’ll eat better “next time”.⁣ Oh, I’ll workout “next time”. ⁣ Oh, I’ll jump on that plan “next time”. ⁣ ⁣ You guys. ⁣ ⁣ Why do you keep prioritizing minuscule things, yet putting yourself on hold? ⁣ ⁣ If I had cut out this phrase earlier on in my journey, I would be way further along than I am right now. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe that where we are in our lives right now is exactly where we are supposed to be. HOWEVER, you have the CHOICE to make the change. You have the CHOICE to make “next time” your “now”. ⁣ ⁣ So why not? Why not start your journey right now? Is it too hard? Too intimidating? Too scary? ⁣ ⁣ It doesn’t have to be. yesterday’s workout 👟 cut short due to stomach pains. today I’m getting an ultrasound so I’m hoping maybe they will see something. I’m having a rest day today I’m fasting until 3 pm which I’ve done before on my own but it seems harder when it’s required 😂🤪🙈 also I’m not supposed to drink anything which is torture for me, I’ll be getting a nice big coffee at 3 pm haha ☕️☕️☕️
