3 weeks until Richmond Marathon and not feeling too positive about it at the moment. This training cycle was really rough with injuries and illnesses. My longest run has been 14 miles, and shins are still a bit tender.

Well back on this step here with Mr Shaun T. Finally you signed up for that gym membership, or bought that workout program and all the equipment needed, you even went and bought some nice workout clothes, and you are all ready to start on Monday! But that was almost a month ago and that Monday hasn’t come yet 🤪😬 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ . Believe me momma, you are not alone! Kids are unpredictable. Having and raising kids is not easy. So what should we do? Should we just give up on ourselves, our health and our fitness goals? That answer is NO. . You should schedule your workouts, like everything else in your day. Don’t leave it up to chance. Don’t say I will try to workout on Monday. Say and write in your planner, I will workout on Monday at ..... time, at........ gym or following......... program for ...... minutes, and then follow through. . I am not a morning person by nature! I love to sleep in and I used to, but In order for me to get my workout in, I have to wake up at 5:00 am because my 13 months old son wakes up no later than 6:00 am and my daughter wakes up at 7:00 to get ready and go to school. So 5:00 am gives me enough time to get my workout in and drink my shake and maybe take a shower 😬 . What about you, when it comes to your workouts, do you have a best practice that you can share here?

Yesterday I completed workout 77 out of my 100 workout challenge!! 💥 🙌🏼 Matthew wasn’t interested in joining me. It must have been his rest day 😆 Like I’ve said before, it’s a little harder to gauge progress when you’re pregnant. De luxe om naar een fitnesscentrum te gaan, ontzeg ik me graag MAAR gebruik ik zeker niet als excuus. 🤸‍♀️🧘‍♂️ Ik kan perfect thuis mijn workout doen met de kinderen erbij. Het is niet erg als ze zich een uurtje alleen moeten bezighouden. Dat kunnen ze heus wel. 🏃🏻‍♀️ Ik heb ook geen machines of apparaten nodig om mijn conditie en mijn figuur te behouden. Dat wordt je allemaal aangepraat maar dat is larie. Het is net belangrijk dat je werkt op evenwicht, flexibiliteit en coördinatie. Door geen appartuur tegen gebruiken, maar enkel je eigen lichaamsgewicht, train je die verschillende disciplines te samen. Economischer gebruik van je tijd dus. Je spreekt meerdere spiergroepen tegelijk aan. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ As a single mom, 'doing exercise' and 'having time to exercise' is a luxury in itself. I deny myself the luxury of going to a fitness center BUT I am certainly not using it as an excuse. I can perfectly do my workout at home with the children there. It's okay if they have to spend an hour entertaining themselves. They can certainly do that. I also do not need any machines or devices to maintain my physical condition and my figure. gyms like to make you feel that you do but you don’t. Trust me. It is just important that you work on balance, flexibility and coordination. By not using any equipment, but only your own body weight, you train those different disciplines together. So more economical use of your time. 10.20.19 | It’s incredible how deceiving these silly little squares can be. How you can morph them into anything that you desire. A perfect family, flourishing marriage, flawless skin, curvaceous body. Today, I burned my hand on spilled coffee that I microwaved 5x. I forgot sunscreen for my son’s soccer game. We showed up late to a festival + they ran out of pumpkins. My head was pounding, my boobs were engorged, I talked to my husband for maybe 3 minutes uninterrupted on FaceTime + my children downed two large Sonic slushees before dinner. . That’s reality. . This is Instagram. . I love this photo because it captures such a simple, happy moment from today before bath time as my two oldest brushed their teeth + laughed with their baby brother. Also, our reality. Oh and yes, I post all my photos at 11:00 at night because that’s the only time I can sit down in peace & quiet in my house + eat my twizzlers without hiding. Well there you have it!! I just committed to 100 Workouts!! ⠀ ⠀ I honestly loved it! I think it’s perfect for anyone level you are at in your fitness journey. I thought at first I wasn’t able to do some moves, but then learned not only there was one modifier but 2. ⠀ ⠀ Was this easy because I’ve been on my fitness journey for 3 years now? NOOO It was not, because every new program challenges me. Let me try to sum up just a little bit (even though this post is going to seem long 😂) about why I decided that I needed to change the way I was living: Last May I went to my doctor because I felt terrible. I was overweight and even with eating a balanced diet + nursing, I was gaining weight at a ridiculous rate. It was embarrassing (especially because I didn’t eat unhealthy whatsoever). I have lost weight before and my old tricks weren’t working this time around. I was always so tired but I had just played that off as being a mom and a teacher. But I decided that I was fed up and there was something actually wrong. My doctor listened to me and ran a full blood panel on me. We discovered that I was SEVERELY insulin resistant. That’s when I began my metformin journey. I started to feel better physically, but the weight never came off. I also didn’t make exercise a major priority because my kids, husband, and job came first and I was completely unaware that there could be a balance 🤦🏼‍♀️ And might I add, I NEVER had any issue with my insulin, blood pressure, etc before pregnancy. This all happened POST pregnancy. Fast forward to this January (2019). I became one of those crazy New Years resolutioners and hired TWO personal trainers. I had a long talk with doctorplusdietitian who gave me pointers on what to eat to help regulate my insulin (which is different than just low cal/low carb food). I certainly was unaware that there was such a difference. My whole tribe is on board. My kids love going to the gym’s childwatch and their grandparents are willing to watch them as well just so I can get workouts in. My husband has totally changed our grocery budget and the way we have done grocery shopping just so we can always have fresh veggies daily (thanks to Aldi 🙌🏻). 3rd half marathon done! ✅ . . Was a beautiful route! To be honest, I was nervous for today because I have been having such bad tightness and pain in my calves. It was a great run tho!! My calves didn’t hurt as bad as they had been. They hurt like I have been running 13.2 miles..... 😂 I didn’t break my personal record, however, I finished! That was the goal.... to cross the finish line and push myself as hard as I could! That’s exactly what I did! I missed my personal record by little over a minute! 😱 The best accomplishments in life are the ones that are the hardest! You guys.... you can’t finish a race you don’t start. 🏃‍♀️ I was up all last night. I didn’t sleep at all..... I was that nervous. But guess what! I didn’t let that stop me! I got up this morning and told myself.... “I am strong. I am determined. I will do this!” And I did!!💪 There are always going to be things in life that are hard. You can chose to go all in or you can chose to give up.
