Do you keep a journal? Do you hand write it? Do you type it? • It took me a long time be feel safe enough to write things down. I eventually made a password protected file on my computer which felt safe enough for me to have the opportunity to write about my feelings. Now, I haven’t used that journal document in a while. I sort of fell out of the habit. But recently, I started a new experience that felt like it needed to be documented. I bought a small journal to hand write it. I’m reflecting tonight on how far I’ve come, even though I still have far to go.

Sometimes there is no BALANCE! Sometimes you have so much to do you’re just trying to make it through the day. And guess what that is okay. But know that you are human and tomorrow is another day to TRY AGAIN! Stop beating yourself up because you can’t balance it all like “everyone” else because the gag is we are all holding it together with gum hoping no one notices. No one has it all together. Kaelyn and I have started having these precious moments of just talking to each other and looking at each other. I love when that happens. When they start to connect more, develop their personality more, and become more unique. During harder times, crying for hours on end, cluster feeding - stuff like that - it's these precious moments that keep me grounded and calm. I remember when I had PPD after my first and when he started smiling at me it felt like a ray of sunshine through the clouds. Those smiles were my lifeline, my sanity, and my way to cope. Based on my recent insta-feed it might seem like my life is back to normal. I’ve worked out, smiled from the heart and even felt happy at times. But it is absolutely not back to normal. My dad is still very ill and probably will be for a long time. It has always been important for me to be honest and true on here, but right now I’m chosing to share the moments where I feel happy, rather than the part of me that is constantly worrying about my mom and dad. #coping #iguess

As creatives, we get really good at directing the energy of our pain into beautiful works of art. That doesn’t necessarily mean we are dealing directly with that pain. Being creative like all things can be used in celebration of who we are or as a coping mechanism, or escape from facing ourselves. Lately I’ve been in no hurry to cover up my feelings in makeup and present them as beautiful songs to the world. Learning to feel my feelings instead of think them or avoid them by thinking I’m feeling them because I wrote a song about them. I assure you, it is not the same thing. La Schema Therapy si basa su un approccio terapeutico integrato che oltre ad elementi della terapia cognitivo comportamentale, integra anche elementi della Gestalt, della psicoanalisi, della teoria dell’attaccamento, della terapia costruttivista e della psicoterapia focalizzata sulle emozioni. In termini generali, la Schema Therapy spiega la sofferenza psicologica come la conseguenza di Bisogni Emotivi Primari non soddisfatti. Fondamentale è il concetto di mode (o parte), che può essere definito come l’insieme di schemi, stati emotivi e risposte di coping, ovverosia risposte comportamentali, attivi nella persona in un determinato momento. Un mode diventa disfunzionale quando attiva schemi o risposte di coping maladattivi che influenzano il funzionamento emotivo e comportamentale della persona, compromettendone il benessere e la qualità della vita. I mode sani sono il mode dell’Adulto Sano e il mode del Bambino Felice. Understand that seeking out professional help is not an indication that you are weak or crazy but rather that you have enough common sense to know that all you'll ever need to know in life is where to go when you don't have all the answers. Laboring at 🏠H O M E. The most ideal time to go to the hospital is when you are in active labor (if you don’t know what that means you need to take my Childbirth Bundle class!). One of the best ways to avoid a c-section and medical interventions is by staying home! More often than not, you will go to the hospital too early rather than too late (especially for first-time moms) so it’s important to know how to labor at home and when is the right time to go to the hospital/birth center. Use the time at home to really settle in, set the🕯mood, connect with your partner, take advantage of your familiar/safe space and allow the contractions to find their pattern and wash over you as you breathe through them. Ignore labor till you can’t anymore! Then, once it takes your attention, use all of your “home supplies” aka things around the house to help you feel more comfortable, and find positions that help you cope. oh, and YES, It's ok to rest. · · This badass birther marlyselovestoscherr and coldestcall got to do practically all the things at home. We destroyed their house 🤣haha. You can see how we used every pillow in their house, birthing ball, blankets, stools, a rebozo, water, lights, the bath, toilet, curb, different environments, SO many positions (OMG), bed, heating pad, the floor 😂 (hey, whatever she wants), stress ball, oils, massage and even their dogs for comfort! That's labor for ya! Check out my stories for pointers for each picture. Do what works! If it’s not working, do something else. And be patient. Early labor is the longest stage of labor and on average lasts about 20 hours before you even hit active phase. One of the benefits of hiring a birth coach is that they help you to know what your options are, help you supplement with supplies, keep your breath/coping under control, help you know when to go to the hospital and reassure you (and your partner) that all is well! · · Did you labor at home? A Coping Strategy, or Compensatory Strategy, is defined as something that we do to work around a problem. Following brain injury, the use of coping strategies to work around the effects of injury can mean the difference between success and failure. Coping Strategies for survivors of brain injury can be either positive or negative. Many times we will pick a strategy that makes us feel better right away, but actually hurts us in the long run. For example, smoking when stressed makes one feel calmer immediately, but certainly does not solve anything, it is expensive, and harmful to ones health. This is a negative strategy. This week we are talking all about shifting our mindset; to go from "failing" to "learning". ⠀ ⠀ Learning to shift your thinking from "failing" to "learning" can open so many doors for you. Where you once saw a challenge that could never be accomplished on the first try (& therefore wasn't worth trying at all) you can now see an opportunity to learn and grow! And growth is a success in itself. ⠀ ⠀ Ask yourself: “How do I see challenges in my life? Am I open to them, or am I too afraid of failure? Why am I so afraid of failure? Change or Repeat??? ⠀ ⠀ Generation after generation after generation......⠀ ⠀ Families are keeping secrets out of fear, shame, isolation, and abandonment. ⠀ ⠀ The saying “what goes on in this house, stays in this house” is absurd in cases of sexual assault, rape, physical abuse, verbal aggression, addictive diseases, etc. ⠀ ⠀ So, when family members try to begin the process of change, most are often considered as the “black sheep” of the family. ⠀ ⠀ The expectation to keep quiet, or “throw it in the basement” maintain normalcy. Unfortunately, keeping quiet stores the pain in the body and remains alive and well for future generations to come. Many family members believe that if they relocate from their “hometown” to different cities, states, or countries, they rid themselves of the pain forever. ⠀ ⠀ Not so true! ⠀ ⠀ The childhood pain is deeply rooted in our inner self, our DNA, our heart and aura. You know the saying, “You can run but, you cannot hide.” Ask those individuals that return home for weddings, funerals, reunions or family gatherings. Founders are: 📍2X more likely to suffer from depression 📍3X more likely to suffer from substance abuse 📍10X more likely to suffer from bi-polar disorder 📍2X more likely to have psychiatric hospitalization 📍2X more likely to have suicidal thoughts Female founders What suffer at substantially higher than average rates due to a variety of stressors others may not fade. Usually as a founder, especially true for many woman of color there is not a blue print. No one before you, close to you has done it so you’re often left to figure it out along the way. . Some common stressors: 📍Startups are hard: starting-out founders don’t have a team and are required to do things they are not well-suited to do. 📍Founders must be tough: There’s a lot of pressure put on founders to stay steady. As a result, they are often alone when they need others the most. 📍Founders grind doesn’t stop: founders often perpetuate a myth that the only way to be successful is to grind yourself to the bone. 📍Financial risk: founders often go without a paycheck and pour a significant portion of their own money into their businesses. This creates enormous financial stress and anxiety. 📍Imposter Syndrome: Founders often suffer from the sense that they don’t belong where they are and that eventually they will be exposed as frauds. 📍The goalposts are always moving: Founders find it difficult to celebrate the small wins, as each victory brings on the next, greater challenge.
